Aldore Collier was researching and writing articles at the age of nine while other kids his age shot marbles or jumped rope. He began a student newspaper in fourth grade in his hometown of Memphis, TN. After majoring in political science at Northwestern University, he veered back to his first love of writing and received a graduate degree in journalism from Northwestern.
He worked at daily newspapers in Clearwater, FL. and Memphis before heading back to Chicago to work as an associate editor for Jet Magazine, America’s largest newsweekly. A year later, Collier was named West Coast Editor for both Ebony and Jet magazines, based in Los Angeles. He remained in that position for 24 years, covering an area from Seattle to Phoenix, writing major articles on celebrities, entrepreneurs, athletes, activists and clergy. He covered the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic games as well as Republican and Democratic national conventions. He wrote and gave numerous speeches for the magazines.
In 2007, Collier started his own public relations/marketing firm, CollComm working with large and small companies. Clients included General Motors, Global Probe Engineering, Bernalillo County, NM, Flicker Design and Old Spice as well as other public relations firms in the Los Angeles area. While working with Bernalillo County, Collier served as public relations director of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Center of New Mexico. In that capacity, he traveled America videotaping the stories of Dr. King’s remaining lieutenants, including Rev. Jesse Jackson, Dr. Joseph Lowery, actress Nichelle Nichols and congressional representatives Eleanor Holmes Norton and John Lewis. He wrote, produced and directed a 13-minute video that was presented to regional media, politicians and residents to promote the center. The video received universal acclaim.
Collier continues to work with diverse firms, conducting interviews, writing and/or editing press releases, proofreading social media material and staging mock interviews to ensure 100% preparation for clients. Not surprisingly, Collier relaxes by reading. He loves biographies and thrillers.
